What Is Paint Correction?
Over time, your vehicle's paintwork can become dull, scratched and covered in imperfections. Washing, drying, automatic car washes, weather and everyday use can all contribute to swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation and other paint defects.
Paint correction is the process of carefully refining the paintwork using machine polishing techniques to reduce these imperfections and restore clarity, gloss and depth to the finish.
At Mad Wrapz, we assess the condition of your vehicle before choosing the appropriate correction stage. Every vehicle is different, so our aim is not simply to remove as much paint as possible — it's to achieve the best possible finish while working safely within the limits of the paintwork.
From a gloss-enhancing single-stage correction to a more intensive multi-stage correction, we'll recommend the process that best suits your vehicle and the finish you're looking to achieve.
Perfect for improving overall gloss and reducing light defects.
A single-stage machine polish designed to enhance the paintwork rather than aggressively chase every defect.
Typically targets:
Typical defect reduction:
Up to around 50–70% of suitable light defects, depending on the vehicle.
Ideal for:
Vehicles that are generally in good condition but have lost some of their gloss and developed light wash marks.
A more intensive correction for vehicles with moderate defects.
This process uses a more corrective combination of compounds and polishing stages to tackle more noticeable imperfections while still leaving a refined finish.
Typically targets:
Typical defect reduction:
Around 70–85% of suitable defects, depending on paint condition and defect depth.
Ideal for:
Vehicles with noticeable paint defects where the owner wants a significant improvement without necessarily undertaking a full multi-stage correction.
Our most intensive paint correction process.
A multi-stage correction involves multiple polishing stages, with the initial stage focused on defect removal followed by refinement stages to maximise clarity, gloss and finish.
Typically targets:
Typical defect reduction:
Up to around 90%+ of suitable defects, where the condition and paint thickness allow.
Ideal for:
Vehicles with heavily marked paintwork or customers looking for the highest level of correction possible without repainting.
Important: Not every defect can or should be removed. If a scratch has penetrated too deeply into the paint system, attempting to completely remove it could compromise the paintwork. In these cases, we focus on safely improving the appearance rather than chasing complete removal.

Remove years of dullness and bring back the depth, reflection and gloss your paintwork has lost.
Minimise the fine circular marks and micro-scratches commonly caused by incorrect washing and drying.
Depending on the condition and depth of the defect, paint correction can significantly reduce the appearance of scratches and other imperfections.
Heavily weathered or oxidised paint can often be dramatically improved through the correct polishing process.
A properly corrected vehicle can look sharper, deeper and considerably cleaner even before any protection is applied.
Paint correction provides an ideal foundation for applying a ceramic coating, sealant or other paint protection.
Every vehicle is different. Paint hardness, paint thickness, previous repairs and the depth of individual defects all affect the achievable result. Our priority is always to achieve the maximum safe correction without unnecessarily compromising the vehicle's original paintwork.
